Purelements

Purelements: An Evolution in Dance is a reputable arts organization that was launched in 2006. PE is composed of three programs: COAR, AIRE and SONYC.

· COAR (Center of Artistic Refinement) is the Purelements pre-professional training program designed to prepare students towards careers in the arts, as Professional Dancers and well-rounded artists. Students of all ages learn through the techniques of Creative Movement, Ballet, Modern, West African, Tap and Hip Hop.

· Project AIRE (artistic Influences Revitalizes Education) is an Arts-in-Education in school and after school residence program which uses multiple forms of art to enhance literacy, link the arts with academia, and encourage students to use creative and critical thinking skills in their academic endeavors.

· SONYC (Schools Out New York City) is an after school and summer program for students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. Structured like clubs, the model offers young people a choice in how they spend their time; provides rigorous instruction in sports and arts; and requires youth leadership through service.

PE's performances have received noteworthy reviews from media outlets such as the New York Times, the Village Voice HarlemWorld, and Caribbean Life. PE has also been credited with choreographing numerous shows nationally and internationally, including "I Love Broadway," "30 Years of Magic: A Celebration for Michael Jackson," and the Acapulco Black Film Festival.
